Yiwu is a commercial city with unlimited business opportunities, maintaining stable trade relations with 219 countries and regions worldwide. It is hailed as the world's largest small commodity wholesale market by authoritative institutions such as the United Nations and the World Bank. Each year, over 10 million domestic and overseas buyers visit Yiwu for procurement, with 13,000 foreign merchants residing permanently. In July 2018, Yiwu was established as a new batch of comprehensive pilot zones for cross-border e-commerce, continuously promoting opening up and facilitating the transformation and upgrading of foreign trade. The China-Europe freight train route originating from Yiwu, known as "Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe," has opened nine transportation routes to Madrid, London, Prague, and other cities, covering 35 countries and opening up a convenient and rapid railway logistics corridor for goods from the "Belt and Road" countries to enter China. Yiwu boasts the fourth open port airport in Zhejiang Province, with over 40 domestic and international routes in operation. At the same time, it is actively participating in the construction of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Bridge-Jiaxing-Huzhou-Haining Corridor. This convenient and efficient transportation system provides important support for export trade. Yiwu has opened 136 logistics routes directly connecting to over 250 large and medium-sized cities in China, with the lowest comprehensive logistics cost in the country. With the strong advocacy and support of the nation, Yiwu's domestic e-commerce, cross-border e-commerce, internet celebrity live streaming, supply chain, and other industries have developed rapidly, occupying an important part in domestic and foreign trade.

The Yiwu International Sports Goods Expo has been successfully held in Yiwu for six consecutive years. The 2025 edition of the Yiwu Sports Expo (August 2-4) covered an exhibition area of 20,000 square meters, gathering 586 high-quality exhibitors from provinces and cities such as Zhejiang, Hebei, Shandong, Guangdong, and Jiangsu, attracting 53,876 visitors, including 2,306 international buyers, who jointly witnessed this annual grand event in the sports industry. During the exhibition, a cross-border procurement matchmaking event was held, attended by over 300 foreign businessmen from more than 60 countries and regions, including the United States, Italy, Japan, Indonesia, Pakistan, India, the Middle East, and Russia. The Chuangke Exhibition aims to build an efficient trading platform, assisting source factories in expanding into the international market and brands in going global. This exhibition has received high recognition from a wide range of exhibitors and buyers.
