It is hailed as the world's largest small commodity wholesale market by authoritative institutions such as the United Nations and the World Bank. Each year, over 10 million domestic and overseas buyers visit Yiwu for procurement, with 13,000 foreign merchants residing permanently. In July 2018, Yiwu was established as a new batch of comprehensive pilot zones for cross-border e-commerce, continuously promoting opening up and facilitating the transformation and upgrading of foreign trade.
